Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation or RUSLE2 is a modeling tool used in analyzing practices for construction sites. Use of the tool will help professionals meet regulatory requirements- local, state and federal. Sediment yield reduction calculations must demonstrate the ability to achieve threshold reduction targets for Priority Waters and other Special Designation Waters in Alabama. RUSLE2 allows the ESC planning professional an opportunity to use an iterative process to model site specific construction activities and practices to select the most appropriate plan. Participants will be required to bring laptop computers with current Windows operating system to work class example problems. The step wise, hands on instructional method allows an advanced beginner or intermediate user to become familiar with the software and gain a working knowledge of this modeling tool. A RUSLE2 database with specific site development/construction applications and operations will be used for the workshop. All examples with focus on coastal Alabama construction scenarios using site specific data at the county level for rainfall and soils.
The course is brought to you in part by the Baldwin County Soil and Water Conservation District; Weeks Bay Reserve Coastal Training Program; Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Lands Division and NOAA.
